How Data Reselling Works in Nigeria

Every day, people around you need data, airtime, TV subscriptions, electricity tokens and exam PINs. Data reselling means you sell these to them, buying each one at a lower reseller price and selling at your own price. The difference is your income.

You do not need a shop, a big starting amount or any technical skill. A phone with internet and a funded UZOBEST GSM wallet is enough.

How data reselling works on the app, and how you make profits

When you fund your wallet on the app, you use that money to buy data at lower prices and sell it at a higher price to your customers. The difference between what you pay and what your customer pays you is your profit.

A simple example

Example: you pay N430 for 1GB MTN on the app, the customer pays you N700, your profit is N270
  1. You fund your wallet with N2,000.
  2. A customer wants to buy 1GB of data.
  3. You get 1GB MTN for N430 from the app and send it to the customer's phone number.
  4. The customer pays you N700 (cash or transfer).

Your profitN270

You earn N270 instantly. As soon as your customer pays you, you have already made your profit.

The same process applies whether you sell 2GB, 3GB or more - your profit grows the more you sell. With the same N2,000 wallet you can serve four customers with 1GB each (4 x N430 = N1,720) and earn N1,080 (4 x N270), and you still have money left in your wallet.

Another angle: sell electricity and cable TV the way POS operators do

Electricity and cable TV work a little differently from data. Here you earn with a convenience fee - the small extra amount you charge for doing the payment for your customer, just like POS operators do.

Electricity N2,000 plus a N200 convenience fee: the customer pays N2,200 and the N200 fee is your profit

Electricity

  1. A customer wants N2,000 of electricity.
  2. You buy exactly N2,000 of electricity for their meter through the app.
  3. You charge them a convenience fee of N200 or more, depending on the transaction - so the customer pays you N2,200.

Cable TV (DStv, GOtv, StarTimes)

Cable subscription prices are generally the same everywhere. Renew the customer's package through the app at its normal price, and charge a convenience fee on top. The extra you charge the customer is your profit.

Many customers happily pay a convenience fee because you save them the trip, the queue or the stress of paying themselves - especially when their light or TV has just gone off.

How it works, step by step

  1. Create a free account on uzobestgsm.com or in the UZOBEST GSM app.
  2. Fund your wallet by bank transfer to your own account number (shown on your Home page after you get it). The money reaches your wallet automatically.
  3. Upgrade to Reseller on the Upgrade page. You pay a one-time fee from your wallet and your prices drop on data, airtime, TV, electricity and exam PINs.
  4. Sell to your customers. When someone asks for data, open Buy Data, choose the network and plan, enter their number and confirm with your transaction PIN. It arrives in seconds.
  5. Collect your price. Your customer pays you your selling price. You keep the difference between what you charge and the reseller price you paid.

What you can sell

  • Data for MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2 - daily, weekly and monthly plans in different types (SME, gifting, corporate gifting and more).
  • Airtime for every network, from N50.
  • TV subscriptions - DStv, GOtv and StarTimes.
  • Electricity - prepaid tokens and postpaid bills for every distribution company.
  • Exam PINs - WAEC, NECO and NABTEB result checkers.
  • Recharge card printing - print airtime cards with your business name on A4 paper or a POS printer, and sell them like scratch cards.
  • Bulk SMS - send messages to your customers with your own sender name.

How you earn more

Your profit on each sale is your selling price minus the price you pay on the app. Small amounts add up: a regular data customer buys every week or month, and a reseller with many customers earns from all of them, every time they buy. You decide your own selling price - many resellers stay close to the normal market price so customers keep coming back.

Who data reselling is for

  • Students who want extra income between classes.
  • Shop owners, POS agents and business centres who already serve people every day.
  • Workers who want a side income from friends, family and colleagues.
  • Anyone who wants to start a small business with little money.

Tips for a successful reselling business

  • Keep your wallet funded so you can sell the moment a customer asks.
  • Know your data types. Different types (SME, gifting, corporate) have different prices and validity. Tell customers what they are buying.
  • Save your regular customers' numbers on the buy pages so repeat orders take seconds.
  • Check the receipt after every order and share it with your customer if they ask.
  • Tell people you sell. A WhatsApp status, a small sign in your shop, or a message to your contacts brings your first customers.
  • Earn from referrals too. Share your referral link from the Referral page - you get a bonus when people you invite upgrade.

Keep your account safe

  • Never share your password or your transaction PIN with anyone - not even someone who says they work for us.
  • Only fund your wallet to the account number shown in your own account.
  • If anything looks wrong, contact us through Get Help.
